The Environmental museum of Stymphalia is located on the side of a verdant hill, viewing the lake. The museum was founded by the Cultural Foundation of Piraeus Bank and it is housed in an elegant modern building.
The museum aims at showing the relationship between man and his environment and that a harmonious coexistence is plausible in the basin of Stymphalia. The museum's main purposes are connected to the environmental awareness of the public and the transmission of traditional techniques used in the region.
This aspiration is expressed by developing two themes for this exhibition. The first is about the local environment, whereas the second portrays the effect of the environment on people's activity, especially the more traditional occupations.
This exhibition uses all kinds of media, visual form material, maquettes, digital representations and documentary films for the better understanding of its messages.
The multipurpose hall of the museum houses seasonal exhibitions, events and cultural activities.
In the open-air area of the museum, visitors can use special telescopes to observe the birds of the biotope.
In the museum, you can also find a cafeteria and a gift shop.
